Introduction: My First Blog

"About Me" didn't really give me enough room to talk about me, and what to expect in this blog, so instead I present this introduction to serve that purpose.

In my everyday life I'm a supportive, consensus-building, empowering and uplifting kind of guy, but here, in my spare time, I intend to be critical.  I'm a guy who does a lot of listening, reading and watching, but I don't treat these as passive activities.  What I hear, read and see makes me think and (sooner or later) evokes a response.

Was that true?  Was that fair?  Was that enough?  Am I better off knowing? Are things better now?  How can we do better?  Is he/she serious?  Who does that help?  What is their motivation?  Is that a rational course of action?  What should we do going forward?  Is it any of our business?  Should we even care?

Sometimes, I will suggest answers to these questions, serious, satirical or sarcastic.  Sometimes, I'll merely poke fun at what others have done, said, written or suggested.  I'll even lampoon people.  If I'm doing my job right, you should be smiling, laughing, contemplating and sometimes, should even be able to tell whether I speak in earnest or in jest.  You'll find me taking familiar positions as well as opining somewhat unique viewpoints.  As a warning, my views tend to originate from the political Left but occasionally come from the extreme Right, or as I like to call it, left field.  (I've never liked the political terms Left and Right -- maybe that will be a blog entry.)

Finally, I'll blog about just about anything, but you can expect that the main themes will be: Toronto Politics, Ontario Politics, Canadian Politics, American Politics, International Affairs / Current Events, Sports, Philosophy, Psychology, Education, Civilization, Religion, Rights & Responsibilities, the notions of Good & Evil and occasionally things NSFW.  I might delve into stories or poetry, but that isn't planned at this time.  I'd love to hook up with a pop artists to do some comic books!  (Drawing simply isn't in my skill-set.)  All-in-all, some heady stuff.

Have I left any stones unturned?  I guess we'll see.  You tell me.  I might even take requests.

So, keep your tongue firmly in cheek and try to have a good time.

(The first two weeks will likely see a flood of blog posts.  I've been writing and queuing them up just waiting to go live so I can post them.)
